Beginning of season update from your president
Hello my ski club friends! We're less than a month from our first ski week of the season taking place at Northstar at Tahoe. I can almost taste the Bloody Mary's now!!!
But, before I get too far along with our new season of news. I need to let you know of some final items from last season...
During our "No-Brainer" at Heavenly, we held a drawing for prizes. The names were drawn from a list of all members in good standing. Each member, with membership fee paid earned a "ticket". In addition, each member that paid before our cutoff date we had set for last season earned an additional entry. Referring a new member earned a ticket. And finally, each ski week a member attended, earned another ticket.

Additionally, at our last ski week in Snowmass, another drawing was held for skis or a snowboard.
Those winners were;

Congratulations to all of you!!
Now...on to this seasons agenda. And, there's a lot to cover!!
It's time to renew your membership!!
Just as all Southwest flights are now cashless... so is the Southwest Ski club! Please use the website to join or, renew your membership. You can pay by check or by using paypal. If you plan on waiting until you see me at a ski week to give me a check. I only ask that you also use the website to enter your information and submit it. This is important in that it inputs your email into our database. You are receiving this email now because you were on our email list from last season. At some point soon. I'll stop using that list and send info out to only those that are current members. Many of you have already done so. Thank you for that!!
If you've been planning on paying your membership fee and, just haven't got to it yet. Peter has been so kind as to add a handy link that will take you directly to that membership page. :-)
You'll want to join now anyway. Because of the fact that, any new or renewing members paying before January 8 will receive an extra ticket for our give-aways later this year.
Speaking of give-aways.... They are made possible solely because of the hard work of Harold "H" Kaufman. Thanks H!! We can all say "Thank you" to H by donating a few buddy passes to him. He has donated his to our sponsors in order for us to receive the skis and snowboards. If you have an extra one, please contact him through this link...
Northstar...
Our first ski week. It's almost here! At first, the theme for Wednesday night was "All Sports" Don't ask me folks. I have no idea. It's now been changed to, "Things that don't exist" This is a good theme!! There's lodging and lift ticket info available on our website. Just click on the Northstar link in the upcoming events box. The team dinner, while still not for certain. Is hopefully taking place in a condo. Stay tuned for more info :)
Durango No-Brainer...
Justyn has put together a great deal for us at our No Brainer in Durango. One thing that I've learned since becoming your president is that, some members join just for our no-brainers. Yup... They're that awesome!!! this one will be no exception folks!! We're even having our own theme party.... It's, A Saturday Night Live Pizza Party!!! Come dressed as your favorite SNL character as we enjoy some pizza. This theme was my idea folks so, don't let me down.
Niseko, Japan IASF....
I've been told that we're coming up on a "commit by" deadline of December 30th to have at least 30% of monies paid to the IASF. Be prepared to hand over some cash if you want to go to Japan for the International ski week. I'll get more info out within a week on this. In the mean time, please use the RSVP link on our website for this, and any other ski week you plan on attending. It really helps us in coordinating our events.
There's no info available yet for Snowbird or Sun Valley. It will be coming soon.
I'm sure that I'm leaving stuff out... I usually do. Any questions, please feel free to email me or any of our other club officers. Some things to take from this lengthy email are...1) Renew you membership via our website. 2) Consider sending H a spare buddy pass. We're not asking for a lot. He needs about 4. So, if just a few of you can help out, we're good. 3) Make your lodging arrangements for Northstar and Durango from the info on our website. 4) RSVP for Niseko, Japan and the other ski weeks you plan to attend through our website.
Looking forward to seeing all of you this season. Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Sincerely,
Forrest"Woody"Stearns
